The Catholic Polish Immigrants who were attracted to Berea, Ohio by sandstone cutting jobs in the 1800’s wanted their own site to worship God in their native language. In December of 1873, Fr. Victor Zareczny along with 100 Polish families began the Church that is known today as St. Adalbert of Berea.
St. Adalbert of Prague preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ in spite of ridicule and being exiled. He preached until he was martyred for the faith. May he be an inspiration to never quit in carrying our cross, even when it becomes difficult.
St. Adalbert of Prague, pray for us!
