The Sacrament of Matrimony
Matrimony or marriage for Christians is a Sacrament that is usually celebrated in the home church of the bride or the groom. For Catholics in the Diocese of Cleveland, there is also a six-month minimum period of preparation that is required in anticipation of a wedding. Prior to scheduling a date, Fr. Chuck or Deacon Ed would like to meet with the engaged couples. Dates cannot be scheduled until the initial marriage preparation meeting. Those who are not parishioners of St. Adalbert may celebrate their weddings here; however, those are exceptional cases and must be discussed with the parish priests.
If you decide you would like to move forward with having your wedding at St. Adalbert, or would like more information the bride or groom should contact Fr. Chuck Butkowski as well as your pastor for permission to be married at another parish.
Please do not book anything until you have confirmed the date with us at your initial meeting to make sure that date is available.
To set up an appointment with Fr. Chuck, please contact Katherine at the office: 440-234-6830 ext 100.

“The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.”
